About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a University Parking Enforcement Officer 1 for the Parking and Transportation Department. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will be responsible for patrolling all parking areas within the UNR jurisdiction and enforcing the UNR parking rules and regulations. The position provides the opportunity for progression to a University Parking Enforcement Officer 2 after a minimum one-year training period and is proficient in performing Officer in Charge duties during special events.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one (1) year of experience in public contact work which included obtaining, clarifying or giving facts or information.
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned campus areas to enforce parking rules and regulations
  • Issue parking citations or courtesy warnings when a violation is observed
  • Patrol and provide a safe presence in parking lots and garages
  • Locate lost, stolen, and counterfeit permits and take necessary action
  • Work special events, directing the flow of traffic, set up and take down of cones, barricades, and signs
  • Resolve traffic problems
  • Diffuse and deescalate situations with customers that have received citations as well as explain the rules and regulations
  • Perform vehicle assist such as, key retrieval, dead batteries, and flat tires
  • Other duties as assigned.
