Job Summary Under the general direction of the University Open Computer Lab Coordinator and working in a team environment, the University Open Computer Lab Assistant provides assistance to students and escalates technical issues, as appropriate. Tracks the usage and maintenance of computers, printers, and equipment within the University Horn Center Computer Lab.

Requirements

  • Ability to approach tasks and responsibilities collaboratively to work within the core values of Academic Technology Services.
  • The ability to use with both Windows and Apple OS systems preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative and organize, coordinate, and work in a high-paced office with accurate results.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all faculty, staff and students to ensure processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to monitor and review information and identify discrepancies.
  • Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
  • Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics , Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Experience providing user or customer support services in private or public organization and Higher education institution.
  • Experience utilizing the Internet to research and resolve common technology problems in common software applications.
  • Experience working with enterprise ticketing systems such as TeamDynamix or BMC Footprints preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education technology team a plus.
  • Required to work nights and weekends.
  • CA Driver License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing On-Site Support to Students and Faculty: Provide customer support, in a friendly manner, to students, faculty, and staff in the Horn Center.
  • Being a Liaison Between Students and Technical Resources: Observe, document, and resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Inventory management: Ensure equipment in assigned areas is secure, complete and in good working conditions.
