About The Position

Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is a rapidly growing educational service company that provides educational, operational, and technological support services to the post-secondary education sector, working closely with Grand Canyon University (GCU). GCE is seeking a motivated University Admissions Counselor to manage the Minneapolis, MN territory. This unique role is a work-from-home opportunity based in Minneapolis, MN, with a starting salary of $58,656 per year and a tenure-based compensation plan. The counselor will be passionate about education and serving others, helping community college students make important decisions about their education at Grand Canyon University’s campus in Phoenix, AZ. The role involves community engagement, event hosting, inquiry generation, and providing exceptional counseling to prospective students and their families through various mediums. The counselor will represent Grand Canyon University in their territory, engaging with community colleges and maintaining a busy schedule of recruitment activities, while working independently to guide students through the admissions process to a successful campus experience.

Requirements

  • Must live in or near Minneapolis, MN.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • No delinquent or in default on a federal student loan (if in a rehabilitation program, your credit report must reflect that you are current, not delinquent, on your payments).
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills.
  • Clear communication and engaging presentation skills (explain just about anything to anyone, comfortable communicating in person, in writing and on the phone, confident and can engage any room while presenting, well developed listening skills).
  • Self-motivation and drive to succeed (volunteer for new challenges without waiting to be asked, love to go above and beyond what’s expected, take ownership).
  • High emotional intelligence (coach a diverse range of students and families, develop and nurture relationships with community colleges and their staff, demonstrate empathy).
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • A flexible schedule.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in your territory.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to use your personal vehicle.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Minneapolis, MN territory.
  • Be involved in the community through hosting and implementing event/activity plans for your territory that build awareness of our academic programs and campus community and drive inquiry generation.
  • Provide exceptional counseling to prospective students and their families in-person, over the phone, via email, text or Zoom.
  • Champion the GCE mission, promoting Grand Canyon University student success and institutional growth.
  • Connect with community college students, faculty and staff in local community colleges.
  • Engage all major stakeholders in your territory.
  • Maintain a full schedule that includes fairs, school visits, presentations, community/campus events and hosting campus visits.
  • Promote Grand Canyon University's transformation.
  • Support prospective Grand Canyon University campus students and families through the admissions process.
  • Guide them on the right path towards a successful campus experience.
