About The Position

The Ophthalmology Dept is currently recruiting for a Cornea Ophthalmology Fellow. The 12 - Month Storm Eye Institute in Cornea Ophthalmology is designed toensure that participants develop the knowledge base, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical and surgical skills necessary to provide quality, ethical, ophthalmic care topatients needing corneal care. The individual will participate in the educational mission of the department from residents to medical students as appropriate including active teaching assignments in the residency curriculum as well as attendance at teaching conferences. Incumbent will be required, along with a mentor, to develop both short-term and long-term professional goals and objectives. Significant time will be scheduled in the clinics.

  • Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted.
  • Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted.
  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
  • Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.
  • Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
