About The Position

The Ophthalmology department is currently recruiting for a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellow. The 12-month Storm Eye Institute fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus is designed to ensure that participants develop the knowledge base, diagnostic reasoning, and clinical and surgical skills necessary to provide quality, ethical, ophthalmic eye care to children and adults with strabismus. The individual will participate in the educational mission of the department from residents to medical students as appropriate including active teaching assignments in the residency curriculum as well as attendance at teaching conferences. Incumbent will be required, along with a mentor, to develop both short-term and long-term professional goals and objectives. Significant time will be scheduled in the clinics.

Requirements

  • M.D. or Equivalent
  • Ability to perform job functions in an upright position.

  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted.
  • Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted.
  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
