About The Position

The Unit Testing Technician will be responsible for the piping/electrical hookup and teardown, refrigerant charge/reclaim, and operation of test loops and chillers. The role also involves troubleshooting and rework as needed. The technician must be able to learn and apply appropriate safety, electrical, and mechanical skills to perform the job. This is a Union Hourly position.

Requirements

  • Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Operations Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Instructing — Teaching others how to do something.
  • Systems Analysis — Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Basic HVAC, electrical, and mechanical knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Reliable and hardworking individual.

Responsibilities

  • Reading connection diagrams and wiring schematics.
  • Proper setup and teardown of production chillers including piping, electrical, controls, and any additional instrumentation.
  • Able to determine normal operation from abnormal operation.
  • Rework units as required by production needs.
  • Continuous learning (safety, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, etc.).
  • Receives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead.
  • Follow standard work, complete production and maintenance records and other documentation related to operations.
  • Participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Meet and maintain all safety requirements.
  • Ability to work individually and in a small team.
