About The Position

In this position... The MP&L Unit Supervisor is responsible for leading materials planning, inventory control, and logistics operations in support of prototype propulsion builds. This role ensures the right parts, in the right quantities, are available at the right time to meet dynamic engineering and production schedules. The supervisor leads a team of salary planners and hourly logistics personnel, drives inventory accuracy, and coordinates closely with engineering, global prototype vehicle build sites, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, low-volume, high-complexity environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Some college or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in materials planning, logistics, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment; prototype or low-volume production experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience leading UAW represented employees is required.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory control practices.
  • Practical expertise of Global Prototype Inventory Requisitioning & Scheduling (GPIRS) and Common Material Management System (CMMS) is preferred
  • Ability to manage frequent engineering changes and shifting priorities.
  • Available to work overtime as required, including weekends & holidays when needed.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily MP&L operations supporting prototype programs.
  • Develop and manage material plans to meet changing build schedules and engineering revisions.
  • Ensure timely, receipt, storage, and delivery of components to build areas.
  • Monitor inventory levels, accuracy, and obsolescence; lead cycle counts and reconciliation efforts.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Program & Pre-Production Management (PPM), Prototype vehicle plants, Quality, and Production to resolve material shortages and part changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in material flow, warehouse layout, and logistics processes.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory and kit accuracy, and shortage reduction.
  • Coach, train, and evaluate team member performance to maintain high achievement and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, collective bargaining agreements, and company policies.
