How you'll contribute: A Unit Secretary who excels in this role: Provides administrative support for scheduling, admitting, medical records, discharge planning, and secretarial functions for the department. Performs limited patient-related activities for the following populations: Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric; occasionally Neonate/Infant and Pediatric. Functions in a multi-skilled environment requiring customer service and clerical skills with some patient-related activities. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. How you'll contribute: Demonstrates thorough knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance in daily operations. Manages incoming calls within the department, efficiently routing calls to appropriate personnel and assisting with problem-solving and de-escalation as needed. Coordinates patient transfers, including communication and arrangement with receiving facilities. Arranges transportation for patients upon discharge, ensuring timely and appropriate services. Performs clerical duties including document preparation, organization, and processing of physical charts for medical records. Coordinates consultations with external providers and facilitates communication between consulting providers and Emergency Department physicians. Adapts effectively to a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and ongoing education to support professional development and departmental goals. Maintains consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality. Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations. What we're looking for: High school diploma required; two years of college-level education preferred. Prior hospital experience preferred. Computer experience required; EMR/electronic documentation familiarity desirable. Ability to speak and write concisely, knowledge of medical terminology desirable. Requirements

  • High school diploma required; two years of college-level education preferred.
