About The Position

The hospital is known for its knowledgeable medical staff, including cardiology, orthopedics, radiology, wound care, and general surgery, with over 200 physicians and 700 employees. The Unit Secretary is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. This role facilitates the communication needs of the department, transcribes physician orders from records (in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system) with nursing staff notation and signature, prepares and compiles records on the Behavioral Health Unit, orders supplies for the unit, and prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary daily forms. The Unit Secretary is also able to assist nursing staff with duties involving indirect patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Patient Rights Education/Competency within 60 days of hire and maintain current as deemed necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the continuum of care for Behavioral Health preferred.
  • Two years of experience using computers for word processing, database management and spreadsheets preferred; (Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook & Excel preferred).
