About The Position

The Acute Neuroscience Trauma unit is the primary unit for neurology and neurosurgery patients-acute and progressive care. We are a Level I Trauma Center and Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center of Excellence. The patient population we service consists of brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, seizures, and a variety of movement disorders. Grow your knowledge in supporting the care of patients with lumbar drains, stable ventilators, tracheostomies, complex wounds and post-operative care. Our unit collaborates with other services to provide the safest, patient centered care. We have a highly engaged nurse resiliency team and amazing teamwork. The Unit Secretary performs a variety of clerical tasks involved in preparing, maintaining and processing patient and unit activities, data and records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to perform daily activities with minimal supervision.
  • Self directed in the accomplishment of routine activities.
  • Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
  • Unit Secretaries work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with specific Nurse Manager.
  • Schedules including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or the best interest of the work unit.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience setting up and maintaining office system (organizational skills)
  • Previous experience with medical insurance, MIS, and medical terminology
  • Previous experience in a health care setting
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience with use of EMR
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course
