About The Position

The Impact You Can Make Team Impact The Unit Secretary is responsible and accountable to assist in the overall functioning of the unit in response to provider/customer needs. The role encompasses receptionist, computer and administrative services, unit access, emergency communication coordination. Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Maintains current knowledge related to the age and development of the patient population in areas in which they work
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with other nursing personnel, patients, physicians and the public
  • Ability to do basic math
  • Good organizational skills
  • Basic computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • Medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal skills within the entire care delivery Team
  • Answers phone/intercom in a polite, friendly, respectful manner and relays messages to appropriate resource in a timely helpful manner
  • Provides general support for team responsibilities encompassing maintenance of a safe environment, problem identification, conflict resolution skills, cooperation, commitment, and appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Utilizes computer information system according to established standard for position and unit including registration of patient, obtaining copies of current history upon arrival of patient
