About The Position

Unit Secretary ED 7am to 7pm (FT Days) Responsibilities: Meets, greets and directs all patients, families, visitors and health care team members. Provides accurate and appropriate information. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the charge nurse, co-workers and physicians. Strong interpersonal skills, encompassing customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion. Performs chart audits to verify that documentation is complete. Maintains department logs to ensure accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping. Gather relevant patient information, including medical history, current condition, and transfer needs. Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure the best possible care for the patient. Communicates with outside facilities to confirm patient transfer details and coordinate logistics. Arranges transportation to the hospital, including ground transport, ambulances, or air medical services. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of patient transfers, including transfer requests, and communication with other facilities. Performs SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) interviews according to established department guidelines. Coordinates after-death documentation, ensuring timely completion of necessary paperwork and compliance with hospital protocols. Performs inventory checks for department supplies, monitors for expired items, and assists with ordering supplies as needed. Maintains unit equipment by placing work tickets as needed Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Performs room turnover and assists with restocking supplies between patients to maintain readiness for patient care. Maintains HIPAA confidentiality at all times, protecting patient information and hospital operations. Performs additional duties as required. Education and Experience ·  Required - High School Diploma or GED   Required- completion of a certified medical assistant (MA) program   Required- one-year clerical experience   Preferred - one year Unit Secretary in acute care setting  Required Meet all Employee Health Requirement  Required: Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days and/or nights, evenings, holidays, weekends, and on-call. Requirements

  • completion of a certified medical assistant (MA) program
