About The Position

The PAT Unit Clerk/Scheduler position is full-time, first shift position. The position requires multiple skills in the areas of Unit Clerk and Scheduler. This position is under the direction and supervision of the Director of Surgical Services. Flexibility in work schedule is a must as there will be days when your work schedule is adjusted to meet the needs of our patients.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills; including clear and concise phone skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Word and Excel required
  • Prior patient scheduling desired
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year hospital setting experience required
  • Understanding of medical terminology, billing, coding, and prior authorization process required
  • Physical ability must allow for stooping, bending, and lifting.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job orientation program. Must be proficient with all the basic tasks of the position within three months of training.
  • Knowledge of principles of direct patient care, certain treatments, basic observations, and essential points of care about emergency patients.
  • Requires high level of mental alertness to avoid error and negative consequences to patients
  • Spends time dealing with patients, which may create stress, frustration, or high level of concern.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for department clerical and receptionist duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for data entry associated with the patients being scheduled.
  • Responsible for requisition of supplies, equipment, and services from other departments.
  • Assist in compiling necessary statistics monthly, yearly, and as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned
