What this job involves - The Journeyman Engineer will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments. What your day-to-day will look like: Execute a wide variety of maintenance and repair work in relation to the installation, maintenance, and repairs of boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, and building equipment. Perform repairs to the Plumbing, Structural, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems. Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts to maintain the HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels Quality Control. Perform a wide variety of complex operating procedures to ensure the proper operation of the steam boilers, lab utilities, emergency generator operation, the propane vaporizer and others. Maintain all engineering/electrical spaces in a clean and neat manner at all times. Conducts scheduled tours of the boiler plant, chiller plant and lab utility equipment to include cooling towers, emergency generator rooms; main switchgear rooms, air handling machine rooms as well as steam stations and condensate return systems. Review executed work orders, logs, forms, and related documentation on a daily basis to help ensure they are complete, current, and reflect the tasks as performed, and are appropriately filed in the CMMS, or other required system. Any and all other tasks assigned Experience with Process equipment, such as Autoclaves, various Washers and other PLC controlled equipment is a plus. Experience with Thermal Fluid Heaters is a plus.

Requirements

  • High-school degree, GED, or equivalent
  • Strong communication & computer skills
  • Must have general knowledge of industry maintenance and repair practices
  • Must successfully have passed the Local 39 apprentice exam, or met the criteria as explained by the apprenticeship standards for IUOE Local 39

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Process equipment, such as Autoclaves, various Washers and other PLC controlled equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with Thermal Fluid Heaters is a plus.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment following GxP, GMP, GDP or similar practices
