Position Overview The Underwriting Support Associate processes new insurance applications from receipt of application to policy delivery. This position is also responsible for data imaging and indexing of documents.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Typically requires 0-2 years of experience in related field
  • Basic skill in: Completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Data entry with minimal errors
  • Basic ability to: Perform routine office work using basic clerical skills
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Work as a team member and follow directions
  • Adapt to changes in responsibilities, work processes, timeframes, performance expectations, organizational culture, or work environment
  • Work comfortably in a fast-paced work environment
  • Basic knowledge of: Microsoft Office software
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews applications and confirms that required signatures, forms, and related files are completed accurately
  • Verifies agent licensing and works with the Marketing Department on obtaining updated licenses
  • Requests claims history and microfilm documents
  • Enters new case date into appropriate systems
  • Applies premiums received and creates and initiates initial and automatic premium drafts
  • Assembles and binds contracts for mailing, ensuring that all required documents are included
  • Initiates correspondence regarding outstanding requirements
  • Calculates initial premiums due, completes accounting transactions, and processes refunds
  • Prepares, scans, and indexes documents and images being converted into electronic format
  • Maintains all scanned documents in meticulous order
  • Processes microfilm print requests
  • Ensures all workflow items are completed in a timely manner and within quality expectations
  • Escalates issues and concerns from customers as needed
  • Recognizes general issues and concerns and suggests process improvements
  • Works with other departments to resolve processing issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned
