About The Position

The Underwriting Associate provides critical support to the underwriting team by evaluating risk, assisting with policy review, and ensuring timely processing of new business and renewals. In this entry‑level role, you will help gather and analyze applicant information, review documentation for accuracy, and prepare files for underwriting decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with brokers, agents, and internal teams to ensure smooth submission flow and exceptional customer service. This role is ideal for candidates who are analytical, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn the foundations of risk evaluation within the insurance industry. Working under the guidance of experienced underwriters, you will gain hands‑on exposure to underwriting guidelines, rating tools, policy forms, and industry terminology, building a strong base for career advancement into a full underwriting position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters in reviewing applications, financial documents, and risk information
  • Conduct preliminary risk assessments and ensure submissions meet underwriting guidelines
  • Prepare documentation, maintain accurate records, and process endorsements or policy changes
  • Communicate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to request missing information
  • Utilize underwriting systems and rating tools to input data and generate quotes
  • Support underwriting decisions by performing basic analysis and research
  • Help track submissions, follow up on outstanding items, and manage renewal timelines
  • Contribute to a positive customer experience through timely and professional communication
