Position Summary Supports the company's ability to achieve financial and strategic goals through effective underwriting protocols and standards, identifying, evaluating, and managing risk to maximize revenue, membership, and earnings. Performs pre-underwriting analysis for new and renewal of group contracts and accountings at a proficiency level. Reviews assigned cases within the department's book of business including multiple product types, funding arrangements and rating methodologies. Supports Managers and Directors in managing the day-to-day underwriting team tasks, goals, and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in underwriting analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using Salesforce.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with underwriting associates on protocols and procedures to facilitate the execution of routine business tasks.
  • Maintains effective relationships with departments to ensure information sharing and daily communication.
  • Assists in the review of underwriting procedures for new business quotes, patient renewals, and accounting.
  • Organizes medical requests according to priorities and develops patient care and recommendations.
  • Monitors the financial, accounting, and confidential information of the patient and retrieves care plans details from organizational data systems.
  • Defines the administrative processes for the underwriting department in order to effectively manage workflows.
  • Observes underwriting associates and takes direction from senior management on key success strategies.
  • Operates across an underwriting team and assists with minimal supervision; executes a series of underwriting activities.
  • Compiles information on third party vendors to inform the underwriting decision-making process.
