About The Position

The Underwriter is responsible for reviewing applications, gathering data and assessing risk against established underwriting guidelines and claims history.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as finance, mathematics or accounting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes rating financial tools, reference materials and source systems to assess medical risk.
• Evaluates the risk classification process, which involves health questionnaires, interpretation of medical/financial reporting packages, and coordination with case/medical management.
• Ad Hoc reporting and analysis on group and block level required, as well as the ability to communicate the results.
• Organization and tracking of prospects and renewals is essential for success.
• Ability to analyze a large group, for both renewal and new quote, to derive a recommended rate that coincides with the business plan.
• Provides detailed support for transparency in rate development.
• Provides support for Affordable Care Act (ACA) pricing analyses and benefit designs.
• Shows initiative to learn new product lines, and implement/adhere to federal/state/internal mandates and business rules.
• Accountable for accurate case documentation, sound decisions and clear communication with the customer and sales areas.
