About The Position

WSP is seeking an experienced Underwater Inspection Team Leader to join their growing dive team in the Southeast, based in Greenville, SC. This position is intended for an NBIS Team Leader with extensive commercial diving experience who can lead complex field inspections, reinforce safety programs, and supervise dive operations and equipment maintenance. In this role, you will lead teams performing underwater bridge and waterfront inspections. You will be responsible for planning and executing inspections, preparing and reviewing inspection reports, and mentoring and supervising inspection and diving personnel. You will work with moderate supervision and are expected to interface directly with clients, support project delivery objectives, and contribute to the consistent delivery of high-quality, safety-focused inspection services.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bridge and/or waterfront inspection.
  • NBIS Team Leader certification.
  • NBIS Underwater Bridge Inspector certification.
  • ADCI Diving Supervisor certification.
  • Florida Certified Bridge Inspector (CBI).
  • ADCI-approved diving physical completed within the past 12 months.
  • Demonstrated experience leading field teams and executing inspections with limited supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document and communicate inspection findings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and substance abuse policies.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding field work, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, lifting and carrying equipment, and working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified instructor for First Aid, CPR, and Administering O2.
  • Additional FHWA/NHI certifications in scour, stream stability, or similar.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D acoustic imaging systems.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • SPRAT Certification.
  • Certifications in destructive and non-destructive techniques.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Experience using AASHTOWare BrM

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform bridge and waterfront inspections in accordance with owner requirements, NBIS, ADCI, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Plan inspection methodologies, field logistics, access equipment, and staffing for assigned projects.
  • Draft, review, and finalize inspection reports in accordance with project-specific and internal quality standards.
  • Assist the Diving Safety Officer (DSO) by reinforcing safety policies, administering safety training, and managing the dive maintenance program.
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to junior inspection staff and diving personnel.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers to support schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Promote and enforce WSP’s safety culture, including strict adherence to site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Represent WSP professionally during client interactions, field coordination meetings, and site visits.
  • Exercise sound ethical judgment in the use of company resources and comply with WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
