The Gujral Laboratory in the Human Biology Division at Fred Hutch Laboratory is recruiting a temporary intern to assist with ongoing studies. The Gujral Lab is focused on understanding the details of how cells respond to external stimuli, both stimuli that are physiological and those that contribute to disease. This is a temporary position, ending in September, and works with members of the laboratory of Dr. Taran Gujral in the Division of Human Biology. This position provides a rich environment to learn about cell biology and the drug discovery process. Candidates will also have the opportunity to present their research during lab meetings and scientific conferences and to write, submit, and publish scientific papers.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.
  • Some lab experience and/or college-level biology and chemistry courses preferred
  • Applicants must be students in good standing, currently enrolled in an undergraduate program.
  • The position requires attention to detail, a high level of initiative, and excellent communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to work independently without supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve and eagerness to learn.
  • Works well collaborating with others.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate would be pursuing a degree in Biology or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of mammalian cell culture
  • Assisting with oncology drug efficacy studies and drug screening experiments
  • Prepare samples and carry out biochemical and PCR-based assays
  • Candidates will also have the opportunity to present their research during lab meetings and scientific conferences and to write, submit, and publish scientific papers.
