About The Position

This Statement of Work encompasses the need for student services in technical and/or analytical support within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Department's Autonomous Technology Division (ATD) Contracting Officers Representative (COR) area ofresponsibility. In addition to hands-on project and contract monitoring work, the student will assist the ISR COR group with the development of processes and procedures to be utilized by ISR programs in the collection and dissemination ofreporting data, performing data analysis using Microsoft Excel and appropriate statistical software, composing and completing technical reports, technical writing pertaining to system analyses and assessments, participation in COR meetings with contracted entities and assist with related presentations within the ISR Department and Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC). These tasks will be conducted entirely at NIWC Pacific, Naval Base Point Loma Complex, in San Diego, CA. This work will support the ISR Department Contracting Officers Representative (COR) and potentially any of the projects within the ISR Department that may or may not require Secret Clearance. There are currently over 160 active projects in the department. While the student is assigned to the COR group at the division level, the student will support and assist with R&D and T&E efforts in any of the department's active projects. In addition to direct project support experience, there are opportunities to participate in Department level and Center level activities that assist and improve procedures and processes that are promulgated to all projects Center -wide. In order to maximize efficiency and the effectiveness of project tasking, processes improvements are identified and formulated by the project's COR. Understanding the areas of potential improvement within the various ISR projects is challenging work, as projects are at different stages in their lifecycles, and there are varying levels of complexity and tasks involved in each project. Working directly with the COR, the student contractor will learn and utilize established COR communication, documentation and reporting protocols. In addition, the student contractor may assist in the preparation, performance and data analysis ofR&D and T&E activities in various ISR Department projects. These tasks will be conducted primarily at NIWC's facility within Naval Base Point Loma and may also include local travel to other campuses within Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific in the San Diego, CA metropolitan area.

Requirements

  • Area of Study: Any major. Psychology, Physiology, Biology Marine Biology and Chemistry. (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior).
  • Expertise with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and common statistical software.
  • Interest and/or experience in engineering practices as well as software and hardware development, Program Management and Oversight.
  • Qualified candidates will possess a strong work ethic, good communication skills and be detail oriented.
  • Student available to work 10-20 hours per week during semester, and 15-40 hours per week during breaks preferred.
  • This position may require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify.
  • This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week.
  • This position will remain open until filled.
  • Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at time of hire.
  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results (including a criminal record check).

Responsibilities

  • Submit Monthly Status Reports in accordance with the base contract.
