Argonne has been studying the connections between automotive purchases and automotive manufacturing to understand macroeconomic impacts, particularly for trade flows and employment analysis. Argonne has focused on the economic investments in the automotive manufacturing supply chain in order to track production volume plans, compiling a database of announcements of major investments by automakers and suppliers. This task would take a similar approach by looking at the corporate side of the automotive market, particularly using financial disclosure forms to determine expenditures and profits for each automaker, to estimate profitability for different vehicle types. The student researcher will assist in collecting data (e.g., Financial disclosure forms, automaker quarterly reports) for the ensuing analysis. Education and Experience Requirements The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. Applicants must be: ‒ Currently enrolled in under gradua te or graduate studies at an accredited institution. ‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or ‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution. Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
