About The Position

This Statement of Work is to provide technical and analytical support in the field of Mechanical Engineering, with potential application to related engineering disciplines. It covers the need for a student services contractor to develop hardware solutions for the test and evaluation of emerging RF systems. Work would include mechanical design and fabrication support, and mechanical system integration. Basic knowledge of mechanical system design and materials science is essential. The student contractor should be familiar with mechanical design fundamentals and materials science. In addition, the student will support mechanical assembly and testing operations. Current Model Range projects develop shipboard system enhancements and support various agencies and programs Navy-wide. These efforts require mechanical design, fabrication, and integration. THE WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN PERSON AT NIWC PACIFIC, POINT LOMA COMPLEX, SAN DIEGO, CA.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Student 3: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently.
  • Undergraduate 3: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering major preferred; relevant majors such as Materials Science, Systems Engineering, or Applied Physics may be suitable given relevant coursework and/or workexperience.

  • Materials Science fundamentals
  • This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify
  • Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at time of hire.
  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results (including a criminal record check).

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabrication of mechanical components and assemblies for RF systems.
  • Support mechanical integration of RF hardware systems and test fixtures.
  • CAD modeling using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • Support prototype development and testing of mechanical systems.
  • Materials selection and mechanical analysis.
