About The Position

The Undergraduate Career Development Counselor at the Wasserman Center within the NYU School of Professional Studies (SPS) will provide guidance, advice, and support to students throughout their career planning, decision-making, and job searching processes. This role involves assisting students in analyzing their interests and skills to develop career goals across all stages of their professional and academic journeys. The counselor will also contribute to career programs, including planning, marketing, implementation, and data collection for effectiveness analysis and student outcomes. A key aspect is supporting undergraduate students in their first-year experience by establishing relevant milestones for their academic progress and collaborating with students and faculty to implement a 4-year career success plan. Additionally, the counselor will engage with employers to address their talent needs, utilizing various employer resources such as job postings, recruiter-in-residence programs, resume books, career fairs/industry expos, social media initiatives, and participation in employer forums, conferences, career development panels, and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years Relevant experience in career services, career counseling, student personnel, human resources, recruitment, admissions or related field and equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience implementing programs, seminars, events, and preparing training materials.
  • Career planning, assessment, and job search expertise.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with a diverse population at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field
  • Experience developing talent pipelines with employers and working with international students and professionals in the workforce.
  • Experience using AI tools in career coaching/education and understanding surveys and assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Guide, advise, and support students through the career planning, decision making, and job searching processes.
