This System Software Intern role involves hands-on work in proof-of-concept development, performance analysis, and supporting AMD platforms. You'll collaborate with hardware and software engineers to optimize GPU workloads and help build core system software components. We are seeking a highly motivated Artificial Intelligence Product Engineering/co-op to join our team and participate in research and development of next-generation product differentiation features with extraordinary AI engineers. Requirements

  • This team is looking for a candidate with strong communication skills and ability to collaborate, interact with our team and across functional teams. The candidate should have strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to details and a willingness and desire to work and grow their skills in the area of microprocessor validation and design.
  • You are currently enrolled in a US based University in a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, memory systems, OS fundamentals, and embedded systems.
  • Experience with Linux, C/C++, Python, and familiarity with kernel programming or device drivers.
  • Exposure to GPU programming models such as ROCm, HIP, or CUDA.
  • Hands-on experience or interest in AI/ML, firmware, or hardware–software co‑design.
  • Interest in performance tuning and use of profiling/debug tools.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to dive deep into complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop proof‑of‑concepts for Linux kernel modules, low‑level drivers, and system‑runtime components.
  • Explore, debug, and prototype GPU driver features for next‑generation hardware.
  • Analyze and optimize GPU kernel and system performance using ROCm, CUDA, and architecture‑aware tuning.
  • Write robust low‑level code interfacing directly with GPUs and hardware subsystems.
  • Investigate CPU/GPU performance bottlenecks and propose cross‑system optimizations.
  • Collaborate with hardware and architecture teams to validate platform features and system behavior.
  • Support development of internal debugging, profiling, and performance analysis tools.
