About The Position

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Martin South Hospital, a 100-bed facility, where you will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses, and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment. As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will play an essential role in keeping patients, visitors, caregivers, and staff safe and secure. Your responsibilities will include protecting patients, visitors, caregivers, and hospital property by conducting regular patrols and enforcing facility policies. This position works the night shift, averaging about 36 hours between 5:30pm and 6:00am, and requires flexibility to work Monday through Fridays, as well as weekends and rotating holidays. Cleveland Clinic Health System is a nonprofit multispecialty academic medical center founded in 1921, integrating clinical and hospital care with research and education. It is a 6,500-bed health system with 19 hospitals and over 220 outpatient facilities worldwide.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (VDL) and maintain requirements for possession of a valid Florida driver's license
  • State of Florida Class D license
  • Good oral, written communications, interpersonal and analytical skills sufficient to document investigative activities
  • Ability to maintain a prominent level of confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Chauffeur license
  • Two years of experience
  • Security, police, military or customer service background

Responsibilities

  • Patrol the internal/external premises while maintaining a high degree of courtesy and good judgment in dealing with the public
  • Monitor visitor conduct, ascertain legitimacy of suspected unauthorized persons, control parking and traffic flows and enforce parking regulations
  • Maintain high tact and diplomacy
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with diverse social, ethnic and religious groups
  • Communicate with the public in a clear and concise manner
  • Maintain a working knowledge of traffic, parking, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Provide physical restraint against those who endanger caregivers, patients and visitors
  • Provide escort to personnel as appropriate
  • Apply restraining techniques, as required, to maintain safety and order within the hospital environment
  • Report on safety, security and/or fire hazards
  • Recognize and make recommendations on safety violations and hazards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fire control warning systems, evacuation routes and procedures
  • Respond to requests for assistance from clinic personnel, patients, and visitors promptly
