Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related security position.
  • Current Alabama Security Guard License issued by the State of Alabama.
  • Certified to carry Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Current handcuff certification.
  • Ability to successfully meet Physical Agility Test (PAT) standards as defined by the U.S. Army.
  • Ability to pass a medical examination in accordance with AR 190‑56 requirements.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language fluently, including comprehension of written rules and detailed instructions.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct random patrols of building interiors, exteriors, and surrounding grounds.
  • Manage access control and surveillance operations for all entry, exit, and internal/external building activity.
  • Monitor personnel access, including entry/exit procedures, visitor control, and screening.
  • Monitor and respond to Security and Emergency Alarms.
  • Operate and observe the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system.
  • Identify and report security hardware issues—including broken locks, malfunctioning doors, non-operational cameras, and communication equipment—to the SAM Security Office.
  • Apply knowledge of physical security protocols and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures for Department of Defense (DoD) facilities.
  • Provide emergency assessments and assistance as required.
  • Maintain accurate and professional daily activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Observe, detect, and report suspicious activity.
  • Conduct random screenings of individuals using handheld detection devices and walk‑through metal detectors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall security operations.
