About The Position

This position serves as an Unarmed Security Guard responsible for the safety and security of Felton Institute’s facility located at 1500 Franklin, San Francisco. This is a first shift position, scheduled from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PST). We seek a calm, proactive individual with strong observational and interpersonal skills to maintain a safe environment. Technical aptitude and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and clients in a social service setting are essential to this role.

Requirements

  • Certification: Valid California BSIS Guard Registration Card (Guard Card).
  • Status: Must be able to perform all duties as an unarmed professional.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Law enforcement or military background (active, retired, or former) is preferred but not required.
  • First Aid: CPR/AED certification (or the ability to obtain it) and the ability to perform first aid when necessary.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Licensing: Valid California Driver’s License and motor vehicle insurance.
  • Physical Standards: Ability to lift 60–100 pounds and meet general physical fitness standards for security personnel.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and de-escalation skills with a "team player" attitude.

  • Experience: Law enforcement or military background (active, retired, or former) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol and Monitoring: Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the premises and surrounding perimeter to ensure safety and security.
  • Access Control: Secure the premises by managing the flow of employees, visitors, and vehicles in accordance with established protocols.
  • Surveillance: Monitor surveillance cameras to identify disruptions, unauthorized access, or unlawful activities.
  • Incident Response: Respond to incidents and critical situations using de-escalation techniques and a calm, problem-solving approach.
  • Threat Assessment: Evaluate potential security threats and take appropriate action to minimize risks.
  • Enforcement: Escort trespassers or violators from the property and detain perpetrators following legal protocols until local authorities arrive.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed incident reports and accurately document all security-related activities.
  • Communication: Provide daily activity reports and incident summaries to management.
