About The Position

This position involves performing diagnostic procedures using ultrasound to diagnose disease processes and delineate normal/abnormal anatomy and pathological conditions in the human body. The role is based at Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, which emphasizes a culture built on core values of Compassion, Ownership, Respect, and Excellence. Requirements

  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of completing the ultrasound program.
  • New Graduate or 1 year of general radiology experience required.
  • Operate Ultrasound equipment effectively to produce quality images.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and alternate shifts.
  • Rotate on call for evening, weekend and holiday coverage.
  • Able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as radiological field advances.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Sonography and pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill levels in: Area of expertise to ensure production of high quality images; Safe operation of equipment and accessories with proper warm-up exposure, daily QC and good reporting techniques.
  • Performs correct exam on correct patient
  • Follows the PACS and Meditech workflow
  • Consults with the radiologist on duty to assure correct scanning parameters when necessary
  • Provides excellent patient care and creates an environment in which customers feel valued and respected.
  • Demonstrates a caring and interested manner.
  • Effectively communicates and problem-solves with customers.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and strict patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Follows all department team expectations.
  • Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably.
  • Applies Lean principles: Effectively utilizes resources reflective of Lean Principles; Participates in Lean Board
