Requirements

  • 2 years of previous hospital experience as an ultrasound technologist required.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position.
  • Heartsaver/CPR Certification required.
  • Graduation from an approved formal training program in ultra-sound technology and registry eligible required.

Nice To Haves

  • RDMS and BS in ultrasound technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs abdominal, vascular, small parts, pelvic, including endovaginal, and obstetrical ultrasound studies.
  • Performs transthoracic echocardiograms.
  • Assists the physician with transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Disinfects intra cavity probes; obtains patient clinical information from the patient, physician chart and gives verbal and written preliminary reports of sonogram results to physician.
  • Maintains records of all procedures performed.
  • Assists the physician with localizations for invasive procedures under ultrasound guidance.
  • Schedules patients for echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and ultrasound procedures.
  • Instructs and provides clinical supervision to Ultrasonography students.
  • Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Customer Service; respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidentiality, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
  • Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
  • Functions independently with regard to individualizing each exam relative to clinical history.
  • Keeps current regarding developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic sonography by reading technical journals, participating in service education programs, attending conferences, etc.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Provides patient comfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
