About The Position

This position is PRN, days, in the mammography department, at IUHMG W-West Lafayette. The Ultrasound Technologist provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. They are responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, evaluating images for diagnostic quality, and making necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. The role involves collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information, ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures, and maintaining compliance with high-level disinfection practices. Technologists assist with minimally invasive procedures, possess familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices, and provide intraoperative ultrasound as requested. Requirements

• 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
• For ACR accredited ultrasound departments: Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology , RVT(VT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Vascular Sonographer, RVS; as required by facility accreditation, if applicable.
• Exception: if performing breast ultrasound only, must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography & Breast US, RT(S)(BS), or Radiography , Mammography & Breast Ultrasound, RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
• For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments: Requires candidates to meet one of the two following conditions: Must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program.
• For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments: Requires certification through one of the methods mentioned in the accredited section above within 12 months of hire.
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
• Familiar with current scan protocols.

• Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.
• Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices.
• Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.
