Requirements

• Must be a registered sonographer by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certified in (at least) OB/GYN.
• Does not have to be registered in ARRT.
• Candidates must have a minimum of one year experience, OB/GYN preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registry with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
• Certified in Physics and OB/GYN

Responsibilities

• Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, and pathology and equipment limitations.
• Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
• Follows protocols and or physician specific orders.
• Reviews prior images/reports/patient history as needed.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
• Performs routine and complex studies and assists physician in a variety of imaging procedures.
• Participate in various teaching and mentoring of ultrasound technologists.
• Able to perform on all age groups from infant to adult/geriatric.
• Organizes processed images, measurements, calculations, and other data in a logical sequence for presentation to the physician for interpretation.
• Consults with the physician as applicable regarding the quality of images and data obtained.
• Performs ultrasound and other procedures on patients as directed by Physicians & Advance Practitioners.
• Obtains and records all pertinent clinical information relating to the procedure.
• Ensures all required written and computer documentation, forms and patient medical records are completed in a timely manner.
• Maintains ultrasound supplies and cleans equipment.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment.
• Orders and stocks all ultrasound supplies.
• Maintains department records, reports, and files.
