About The Position

As an Ultrasound Technologist II, you'll perform a wide range of advanced sonographic procedures-including general, vascular, and specialized studies-for patients across all age groups. You'll apply expert principles of ultrasound imaging to deliver reliable diagnostic results, support clinical decision-making, and contribute to continuous improvement within the department. This role requires not only technical proficiency but also the ability to mentor junior technologists, adapt protocols for complex cases, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited ultrasound training program
  • Specialized training in ultrasound required
  • Minimum two years of experience as an ultrasound technologist
  • ARDMS certification in two or more specialized ultrasound modalities required
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification in compliance with Meritus Health policy
  • Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and advanced ultrasound techniques
  • Strong understanding of ultrasound physics and medical terminology
  • Ability to determine and adjust machine parameters to achieve optimal diagnostic images
  • Skill in evaluating image quality and refining techniques as needed
  • Ability to position patients safely and operate ultrasound equipment efficiently
  • Capacity to innovate and develop new imaging techniques to enhance departmental performance
  • Ability to determine proper sequences and protocols with a high degree of efficiency
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced ultrasound procedures including general, vascular, and specialized sonography for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  • Apply advanced principles, theories, and techniques of ultrasound to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Demonstrate expertise in the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and preventative care of ultrasound equipment
  • Assemble and assess patient data including clinical history to support accurate imaging and interpretation
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment, review requisitions, and verify imaging orders for accuracy
  • Determine and adjust machine parameters and protocols to achieve optimal image quality across complex cases
  • Evaluate ultrasound images for positioning, technique, and diagnostic clarity, exercising discretion and sound judgment
  • Identify, assess, and resolve problems to improve departmental processes and performance
  • Mentor and support Level I technologists, fostering skill development and consistency in imaging practices
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement, adapting techniques to remain current with industry standards
