About The Position

Position Overview: The Ultrasound Technician supports urology providers by performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in an outpatient urology clinic setting. This role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining compliance with clinic policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
  • Current ARDMS certification (e.g., ABD, OB/GYN, or RVT as applicable).
  • State licensure or registration as required.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of urologic anatomy and ultrasound imaging techniques.
  • Ability to obtain accurate measurements and high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and professional ethics.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to position and assist patients as needed.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate ultrasound equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an outpatient or specialty clinic setting preferred; urology experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic X-ray procedures as ordered by urology providers, including but not limited to KUBs, abdominal imaging, and fluoroscopy-assisted procedures (if applicable and credentialed).
  • Prepare patients for imaging exams by explaining procedures, positioning patients appropriately, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Operate and maintain radiologic equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols, including proper shielding and ALARA principles.
  • Verify imaging orders and patient identification prior to procedures.
  • Accurately document imaging performed in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist providers during in-office urologic procedures requiring imaging support when appropriate.
  • Maintain imaging room cleanliness and ensure supplies are stocked and available.
  • Perform routine quality control checks on X-ray equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and clinic policies regarding radiologic services, HIPAA, and patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
