About The Position

Position Overview: The Ultrasound Technician supports urology providers by performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in an outpatient urology clinic setting. This role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining compliance with clinic policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulations.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
Current ARDMS certification (e.g., ABD, OB/GYN, or RVT as applicable).
State licensure or registration as required.
CPR/BLS certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of urologic anatomy and ultrasound imaging techniques.
Ability to obtain accurate measurements and high-quality diagnostic images.
Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and professional ethics.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to position and assist patients as needed.
Manual dexterity required to operate ultrasound equipment.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in an outpatient or specialty clinic setting preferred; urology experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic X-ray procedures as ordered by urology providers, including but not limited to KUBs, abdominal imaging, and fluoroscopy-assisted procedures (if applicable and credentialed).
Prepare patients for imaging exams by explaining procedures, positioning patients appropriately, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Operate and maintain radiologic equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
Follow radiation safety protocols, including proper shielding and ALARA principles.
Verify imaging orders and patient identification prior to procedures.
Accurately document imaging performed in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Assist providers during in-office urologic procedures requiring imaging support when appropriate.
Maintain imaging room cleanliness and ensure supplies are stocked and available.
Perform routine quality control checks on X-ray equipment and report any malfunctions.
Comply with all federal, state, and clinic policies regarding radiologic services, HIPAA, and patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with clinical staff to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
