To perform diagnostic general and vascular ultrasound examinations, analyze images, and communicate findings to interpreting physician for diagnosis and treatment by attending physicians. To ensure that ultrasound examination is of acceptable quality and that equipment is functioning properly. The ultrasound technologist is responsible for some clerical duties in the department.

Requirements

  • ARDMS – registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Abdomen required upon start date. ARDMS certification must be maintained throughout employment.
  • RVT – registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Vascular required upon start date.
  • CPR Certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required upon start date.
  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • No experience required.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to explain test and procedures to patients and parents, allay apprehensions, and to interact effectively with physicians, patients, parents, and departmental personnel.
  • Basic computer skills to operate a computer efficiently and effectively.
  • Analytical ability necessary to resolve technical problems.
  • Ability to schedule ultrasound examinations throughout assigned work period to ensure day to day operations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate facility reports and records.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and manage simultaneous assignments.
  • Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change.
  • An understanding of Children’s Wisconsin health care delivery system and the impact of other health care delivery system on the patient and family.
