About The Position

A Day in the Life The Ultrasonographer I functions under the delegated authority of a supervising physician to provide diagnostic medical sonography services, delivering clinically relevant imaging information to support patient diagnosis and treatment in accordance with education, training, professional standards, and facility policies. Prepare equipment and exam rooms, verify orders and patient identifiers, review patient history, communicate effectively with patients, and perform ultrasound examinations safely and efficiently per established protocols. Apply independent clinical judgment to obtain accurate and complete imaging, recognize exam limitations, acquire additional images as needed, and prepare preliminary findings for physician interpretation. Ensure patient safety, comfort, privacy, and infection control while maintaining professional, ethical, and appearance standards. Operate, clean, and maintain ultrasound equipment; perform quality control; manage documentation and images in PACS; and support departmental operations, including quality improvement activities, basic vascular studies, education support, on-call coverage, and routine stocking and housekeeping.

Requirements

  • Completion of college or hospital based Vascular or Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or completion of Allied Health Program approved by the AMA.
  • Registered or registry eligible.
  • Registry should be acquired within 6 months from hire date of minimum of Physics registry passed and a specialty registry by 1 year of hire date.
  • Level 1: Under 5 years’ experience in at least a single RDMS subspecialty (ABD, OB/GYN etc.)
  • Sonographers will perform basic ultrasound exams and procedures as well as limited vascular exams including but not limited to: Abdomen/Renal, Small Parts, General OB all trimesters, Neonatal Head, Thoracentesis, Paracentesis,Thyroid Biopsy, Guided injections or aspirations, Carotid, Venous Doppler, GYN, Hysterosonograms
