The Ultrasound technologist performs diagnostic medical sonographic procedures and studies with a thorough understanding of standard ultrasound examinations. The technologist must be able to assist the physician, interpret orders and explain procedures to RN’s, patients, and families. They must have a thorough understanding of the Radiology Department operations to assist non-technical staff in processing paperwork, digital imaging and expediting patient transportation. Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations. Performs the duties of an Ultrasound Technologist. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. Prepares room and equipment for patients. Processes images and sends them to PACS for interpretation. Restocks rooms with essential supplies. Pick up clean linen, deliver soiled linen to drop off. Does QA/QC for X-Ray as necessary. Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations are required upon employment or within the first two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
