About The Position

This position performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider's orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes. Handle delicate situations in a supportive and empathetic manner. Assist radiologist with patient procedures and biopsies. Consistently practices excellent mammography positioning, producing high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable in accordance with established policies if applicable. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Functioning as a team member, the technologist is flexible in the work assignments, rotates to support all aligned imaging facilities when needed and assists with training.

Requirements

  • ARDMS approved school/program or registry eligible (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)

  • 1-3 years Recent relevant experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis.
  • Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
  • Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed.
  • Explains the procedure and Positions the patient and spreads ultrasound gel on the surface of the body to cover the internal area being imaged.
  • Evaluates images for quality.
  • Interprets what image is captured.
  • Presents images and preliminary findings to the physician.
  • Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room.
  • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
  • Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
  • Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Follows RHS policies and procedures.
  • Reports variances.
