About The Position

Essential Functions Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the operation of all equipment and current developments relating to ultrasound imaging. Performs examinations according to policy and protocol. Maintains proper quality control of ultrasound equipment. Serves as a resource to the physician relating to ultrasound procedures. Functions as a delegated agent of the physician and practices under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Use independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic medical procedures. A fundamental approach to the safe use of diagnostic medical ultrasound is to apply elements of the AS Low As Reasonably Achievable (“ALARA”) Principle including lowest output power and shortest scan time consistent with acquiring the required diagnostic information. Uses proper patient positioning, tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to promote patient comfort and prevent compromised data acquisition or musculoskeletal injury to the diagnostic medical sonographer.

Requirements

  • Certified through ARRT OR ARDMS.
  • High School or GED.
  • CPR certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Must have equivalent of 3 years (6,240 hours) continuous ultrasound experience (education program -does not count) with no more than 1 year break in experience within the last 4 years.
  • At least 3 years of experience in 2 specialties. Relevant specialties at Watson Clinic include Musculoskeletal, Abdominal, Vascular Sonography, Pediatric Sonography, and Obstetrics/Gynecology.
  • Basic knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures involved with the operation of ultrasound equipment use; human anatomy and proper positioning of patients to secure desired scans and images; methods used in processing images.
  • Ability to administer first aid in emergency medical situations (CPR).
  • ARDMS registered, possess the ability to do duplex scanning, one year of experience in ob, Gyn, or Abd.
  • Must possess RVT registry to perform Vascular exams.
  • Available to work at all locations.
  • Available to work ALL schedules.
  • No Correction Action Plans within a year.
  • Able to proctor students.
