About The Position

This position is under the general supervision of the Manager of Cardiac Diagnostic Suite and Traverse Heart & Vascular and direct supervision of the Echocardiography Coordinator, in addition to the Director of Cardiology and the Medical Director of Cardiac Diagnostic Suite. Has a close working relationship with the cardiologists and medical staff and consistently comes in contact with members of the nursing staff. This position will be a service line position meaning that individuals selected for this position will be required to cover various sites within the Munson Healthcare Cardiovascular Service line. The service line includes Cardiac Diagnostic Suite at Webber Heart Center Traverse City, Traverse Heart & Vascular Traverse City, & Munson Healthcare Cadillac. There is a continuous working relationship with other members of the CDS team (medical staff, nursing staff and physician office staff). Performs routine STAT 2D Echocardiograms, M-mode and cardiac Doppler studies with direct supervision. Performs adult 2D Echocardiograms. M-mode, PW & CW Doppler, Color Spectral Doppler and Transesophageal Echocardiograms, with some exposure to pediatric patients. In addition, performs stress echocardiograms and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms. There are no supervisory or managerial responsibilities with the position, however, the Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist must teach the procedures to other designated staff. Maybe required to travel outside the hospital.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Completion of college or hospital based Vascular or Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or completion of Allied Health Program approved by the AMA.
  • Under 5 years’ experience in at least a single RDMS subspecialty (ABD, OB/GYN etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine STAT 2D Echocardiograms, M-mode and cardiac Doppler studies with direct supervision.
  • Performs adult 2D Echocardiograms. M-mode, PW & CW Doppler, Color Spectral Doppler and Transesophageal Echocardiograms, with some exposure to pediatric patients.

  • Maybe required to travel outside the hospital.
