About The Position

As a Localization Specialist, you will report to the Translations Project Manager on our Instructional Design/Content Production team to support the creation of hands-on, immersive training that helps people build real-world skills for the skilled trades. Our content is practical, learner-focused, and designed to be clear, engaging, and relevant for the environments our learners work in. This is a contract-based 1099 Independent Contractor position. Paid at an hourly rate as agreed upon in the Independent Contractor Agreement – range: $25.00-$30.00 per hour depending on directly related experience and credentials. Contractors are responsible for: their own taxes, insurance and expenses. their own work tools, equipment and basic business software necessary to complete the expected goals and outcomes. The contractor will submit regular electronic invoices at the frequency and rate as stipulated in the contract. Project Details: Duration: approximately 14 weeks (40 hours per week) Location: Remote (flexible hours) Start: Immediate Pay: 1099, Hourly, $25-30/hr

Requirements

  • Native or near-native proficiency in UK English
  • Strong localization judgement and attention to detail
  • Comfortable providing contextual and regulatory guidance, not just direct translation
  • Someone who enjoys working under fast deadlines and can turn work around quickly
  • Reliable, responsive, and available to start right away

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Camtasia or working with video-based learning content
  • Familiarity with UK trades, technical training, or compliance-related content
  • Prior experience translating or localising simulation-based or SIM designer courses (not required, but a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Localize training content from US English to UK English, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and cultural relevance
  • Adapt terminology, measurements, spelling, and phrasing for UK audiences
  • Review and flag content that may need adjustment to align with UK regulations, standards, or best practices related to ed-tech learning in the trades industry
  • Provide guidance or recommendations when UK-specific regulatory considerations apply
  • Support video-based and interactive learning materials, including scripts, captions, and on-screen text
  • Collaborate closely with our instructional design team to meet tight timelines
