About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to manage and supervise a regional staff of UI Contributions Tax Auditors assigned to ensure fair and equal administration of Unemployment Insurance law to all Maryland employers. This position educates Maryland employers, accountants, and attorneys about the Maryland Unemployment Insurance program and state and federal unemployment insurance laws. The Auditor VI position supervises the Auditors in the assigned section of statewide audit staff. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Assist with analysis of data and metrics related to your unit to anticipate workload fluctuations to ensure an adequate number of trained personnel are onboard to cover workload demands. Plan, coordinate, review, evaluate and supervise the UI Tax Auditor Supervisors in a assigned region. Communicate issues with your team, hold weekly or bi-weekly staff meetings and incorporate change management. Assist to identify succession issues, developing leadership and ensuring cross-training of staff and knowledge transfer. Prepare statistical, narrative reports on in regard to field audits. Achieve program objectives and to ensure federal and state compliance. Review and approve daily work submitted by assigned UI Contributions Tax Auditor Supervisors and return any unacceptable work for correction. Assist to develop, implement, and monitor short and long-range strategic planning for DUI and strategies to improve performance and service delivery. Conduct bi-monthly staff meeting to train and update auditors in new law, procedures, standards, industry practices, code of Maryland regulations and department policies. Assist in the implementation of the training program for the division, ensuring that staff is trained in the most current best practices within the field. Coordinate with other units within DUI as well as within the LABOR to develop policies and procedures that ensure a continuum of services for claimants and employers.

Requirements

  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Publisher

  • Proficiency with office software like Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google Docs, and any relevant industry-specific programs.
  • Has working knowledge of COMPAS software and BEACON.
  • Communicates goals and instructions to employees, create training materials, document important processes, generate product and service descriptions and relay department and project statuses to upper management. All of this requires clear and concise professional writing skills.
  • Understands the basic processes and skills required to plan and execute a long-term project.
  • Efficiently and accurately gather information relevant to the continued operations of a unit, analyze this data for significant trends or potential issues, and relay these findings to upper management.
  • Able to Demonstrate proficiency in specific company systems or programs, such as those used to relay instructions or updates to and from front-line users and managers up the chain of command.
