About The Position

Horse Powertrain Limited is an independent new powertrain solutions business, with over 125 years of heritage from Renault and Geely. We develop and produce world-class hybrid and combustion engines and transmissions to move our industry forward, offering many different paths to net zero. Horse Powertrain has 19,000 dedicated and determined employees, working in 17 manufacturing plants, and 5 R&D centers on three continents. This role is based in Detroit, MI USA, with occasional travel possible to Horse Powertrain’s other sites. At Horse Powertrain, you’ll have opportunities to grow your career while making a difference. This is a dynamic, international environment, staffed by caring and collaborative people. If you’re ready to create excellence with us, you’ll be appreciated and rewarded. As US Partnerships and M&A Manager, you will support Horse Powertrain’s entry in North America by building our own local structure and industrial footprint, as well as seeking strategic partnerships and supporting M&A opportunities that strengthen our product, technology, and industrial footprint. Reporting to the VP Partnerships and M&A (and working closely with the US Managing Director, subject to final confirmation), you will also lead local stakeholder engagement and government relations - navigating policy, incentives, and regulatory requirements to enable successful market entry, investment projects, and long-term positioning.

  • Strong analytical and policy interpretation capability with concise executive-level storytelling and presentations.
  • High cross-cultural adaptability and ability to align local actions with global stakeholders; strategic mindset with hands-on execution discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate FDI and site establishment processes, coordinating closely with Corporate Partnerships & M&A and Legal on structuring, due diligence inputs, and execution.
  • Support funding, grants, and tax incentive processes for industrial/R&D investments (applications, approvals, partner coordination).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant U.S. requirements (e.g., CFIUS, ICTS, trade, environmental), working with Horse’s Engineering and Legal/Compliance functions.
  • Support government relations and public affairs: establish relationships with federal/state/local agencies and industry associations; represent HORSE in key external forums.
  • Provide market/policy intelligence to senior stakeholders (VP Partnerships & M&A, Strategy) through regular updates and decision-ready insights.
  • Build and manage a U.S. partnership pipeline with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, technology firms/startups, energy players, universities, and innovation ecosystems—aligned with corporate strategy and product priorities.
