Job Summary • Support writers in individual sessions on-site, on Zoom, and by email • Take walk-in sessions when available • Monitor the front desk, including greeting writers and directing them to their assigned tutors; answering the phones; responding to e-mails and voicemails; maintaining Bookings; closing the computer lab when it has been reserved by faculty; checking the functionality of technologies and communicating needs to IT (x2215); and maintaining the writing center space • Document sessions by collecting post-session survey responses from each visiting writer and by completing session reports that document what occurred in sessions and self-evaluate tutoring approaches • In their first four weeks, complete writing center training on Brightspace • Attend and prepare for biweekly meetings by reading and discussing writing center articles (assigned or self-selected). • Attend biweekly meetings with the director or their mentor. • Assist in leading workshops or meetings as necessary. • Assist in designing promotional and educational materials, such as handouts, flyers, bookmarks, etc. • Other duties as assigned This position largely requires sitting at a desk for multiple hours. This job may require lifting up to 15 pounds.
