WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION FROM ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF WORK STUDY AWARD The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is a federally funded five-year discretionary grant under the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education, to assist migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their immediate family members to earn their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Hep is hiring tutors in the areas of Math, Science, Writing, Reading, and Social Studies related to the Spanish and English HSE exam. Tutoring is primarily provided Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Tutoring may occur at various hours of the day, but specifically in the evenings, depending on participants’ availability. Tutors will provide one-on-one online or in-person sessions for participants and work closely with HEP staff on curriculum development. Tutors will need to be familiar with the objectives, policies, and guidelines of HEP; attend regular staff and tutor meetings, complete mandatory UNM and departmental trainings, assist with the coordination of workshops, orientations, and events, be willing to learn and perform all tutoring duties through training and staff support & perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned which includes intermittent front desk coverage. Tutors will work alongside El Centro staff to enhance and improve students’ learning. Tutoring experience is not required as training will be provided. If selected for this position, there will be mandatory department orientation/training & recurring staff meetings. A normal work week consists of 12-20 hours.
