Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED - Required
  • Minimum of One (1+) plus years of experience providing instructional support to students - Required
  • High degree of confidentiality
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
  • Works collaboratively with others on a team
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Tutors students in assigned subject area(s), working one-on-one or in small groups
  • Provides personalized instruction using a variety of methods to meet the needs of different learners
  • Reinforces concepts presented in school, helping students to grasp difficult concepts, work through problems and improve overall academic performance
  • Helps students develop effective study skills
  • Maintains a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Tracks student progress and provides feedback to program staff
  • Makes suggestions for additional resources or materials to enhance learning
