About The Position

Role: Supports students throughout the semester by providing tutoring, supplemental instruction, and assistance. Works collaboratively with advisors to perform student outreach and proactive success coaching for "at-risk," new, and stop-out students, as well as unique student populations (athletics, EOF, first-generation, nontraditional, etc.).

Requirements

  • At least two years working with students in the higher education is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate field preferred. This includes but is not limited to English and Mathematics.
  • Experience in subject areas where mathematics is critical (i.e. chemistry, physics, engineering, etc.).
  • Experience in subject area where English is critical (i.e. professional writing, creative writing, teaching English as a second language, etc.).
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with administrators, faculty, staff members and a diverse student population.
  • Must be an active listener who can adjust accordingly to institutional change.
  • Working knowledge of current emerging computer hardware and software, including relevant ERP systems and all Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students in a community college setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with working with diverse populations, counseling, advising, and/or tutoring at-risk students is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canvas and emergent digital learning platforms (Cengage, Macmillan Launchpad, McGraw-Hill, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide content-area tutoring, supplemental instruction, and assistance in area(s) of specialty in accordance with assigned schedule
  • Assist students through multiple delivery systems (in-person, through synchronous web platforms, and via email as needed).
  • Perform student outreach and success coaching for first-time, stop-out, and at-risk students.
  • Collaborate with instructors and advisors to identify and assist at-risk students.
  • Collect data of student usage of the Academic Support Lab.
  • Remain abreast of curriculum changes and major assignments in area(s) of specialty.
  • Assist with campus retention efforts through collaborative initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain and assist with Academic Support Lab social media presence and marketing materials.
  • Maintain and assist with Academic Support Lab social media presence and marketing materials.
  • Maintain and assist with Academic Support Lab Canvas site and associated materials.
  • Collaborate with library staff on various projects.
  • Adheres to FERPA and other relevant federal and state regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
