The Elmhurst Park District, established in 1920 and located 16 miles west of Chicago, provides parks, recreation facilities and programs to meet our mission of enriching lives while having fun. We have an exciting seasonal job opportunity for as Turf & Surf Camp Counselor! Join a team dedicated to creating a safe, engaging, and fun environment for campers ages 10-14. Gear up for the best on-the-road biking camp around! As part of the camp team, you’ll spend your mornings leading campers on bike rides to local destinations for fun field trips and outdoor adventures. After lunch, you’ll bike with the group to the pool for an afternoon swim before returning for dismissal at 3 p.m.

Requirements

Some high school
Must be at least 16 years old by May 15, 2026
Must be able to provide own bike & bike helmet every day of camp
Must be able to bike up to 12 miles per day
Attend camp training May 26 - May 29
Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm from June 1 to August 7.

Responsibilities

Supervise and instruct camp participants while riding bikes to different field trips.
Engage with children in various recreational and camp activities!
Riding your bike with campers
Developing & preparing games and crafts
Setting up/taking down equipment
