Purpose Responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of operating and maintenance personnel, equipment, and product flow in a hot operation. To ensure safety, quality, minimize cost and the timely delivery of product to customers. To continuously improve the operations with changes in the procedures, and equipment. Required to work overtime, on-call schedule, possibility of rotating shifts/schedules, or weekends as per business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 7 years of experience in manufacturing with 1 year of experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in business management, technology or related with 4 years of experience in manufacturing with 1 year of experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business management, technology or related with 2 years of experience in manufacturing with 1 year of experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively utilize prescribed safety procedures and devices to guard against hazards and accidents in a hot metal area.
  • Conduct safety audits and make contacts with associates on a regular basis.
  • Demand safe work practices and continually strive to make the workplace safer.
  • Develop and maintain systems to effectively schedule departmental operations.
  • Control the flow of product through the facility.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality control.
  • Monitor hot data from mill gauges against the product specs.
  • Consult with operators regarding product deviations.
  • Schedule maintenance requests and major repairs to maintain production quality.
  • Increase the efficiency of the maintenance crews by providing direct supervision and support in the areas of job priorities, assignments, staffing, area cross training, delay reduction, breakdown support, schedule adherence, etc.
  • Assist in determination of staffing and tooling required for a level of production.
  • Develop and monitor the skills of associates.
  • Provide necessary training and instruction.
  • Enforce the provisions of the Basic Labor Agreement.
  • Apply company rules in a fair and unbiased manner.
