About The Position

84 Lumber is seeking motivated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Truss Builders (Board Foot). As a Truss Builder, you will be responsible for assembling wood trusses used in residential and commercial construction. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced environment and are committed to quality craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in construction, carpentry, or truss manufacturing is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Able to read and write in their primary language.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to read or able to learn to read a set up sheet.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble wood trusses according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment to cut, position, and secure lumber.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and material lists to ensure accuracy.
  • Measure, mark, and cut lumber to specified dimensions.
  • Inspect completed trusses to ensure they meet quality standards and structural requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while following safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.
  • Read and understand set-up sheets.
  • Position plates properly.
  • Operate gantry.
  • Verify lumber accuracy with sheets.
  • Verify truss set up is accurate.
  • Perform daily operator maintenance.
  • Maintain 100% crew efficiency.
  • Mark individual trusses when required.
  • Train Builder Associates.
